Instructor will provide all necessary materials for this class, however, if you would like to use our own materials (i.e. paints or brushes), students are more tha welcome to bring them.
Feel Free to bring a notebook and take notes. It is highly encouraged to practice what you learn during this workshop at home.
Materials:
Paper: Strathmore 400 Series Cold Press 140 lb (9x12 inch final piece) Strathmore 300 Series Cold Press140 lb (small practice piece).
Brushes: Round size 4, 6, 8, Fine Liner Brush Size 0-1, Large Flat Brush for Wash
Watercolor Paints: Daniel Smith and/or Winsor & Newton Cotman Series
Other/Misc.: Winsor & Newton Masking Fluid, Palette Knife or Exacto Knife, 1-3 ml Pipette, paper towels, table salt, and Scotch Brand Masking Tape.
For ages 14 and up. This two day workshop is tailored for beginners and covers everything from start to finish. Paint this beautiful 9x12 inch, Birch and Blooms, scene with local Minnesotan artist, Caroline Porter. Gain confidence by mastering key watercolor concepts like how to use salt and masking fluid while becoming comfortable with common watercolor terminology. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by watercolors, set your mind at ease. Students will practice each technique before painting on the final artwork.
