Let’s finish off summer with a sweet story about second chances. Every Summer After by Carley Fortune will be available at our July gathering. If you can’t make it but want a copy, let Cyndi know at 506-236-6843. We will also collect the books, This Tender Land as well.

Do you love reading books and wish you could talk to someone about your latest read? Are you a former teacher or current teacher and want to read more consistently? Or are you someone looking for suggestions for great books and want to talk about them? Bring your passion for literature and join Cyndi Johnson and Sara Gudahl for their Book Club for ages 18+ Several different genres will be selected. Registration closes for each month one week prior to that month’s meeting. The moderators have a book list but suggestions will be taken! 

August 21 - We will discuss Every Summer After and will begin reading The Teacher by Freida McFadden (A chilling story of twisted secrets and long-awaited revenge) You will need to purchase this book.

 

September 18 -
 We will discuss The Teacher and will begin reading By Any Other Name by Jodi Picoult (ambition, courage, and desire centers two women who are determined to create something beautiful despite the prejudices they face) You will need to purchase this book.

 

October 23 - 
We will discuss By Any Other Name and we will begin reading The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell (Libby inherits an abandoned mansion on the Thames in London and soon collides with her birth family's past) Ten copies will be provided.

 

November 20 -
We will discuss The Family Upstairs and we will begin reading Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt (an exploration of friendship, reckoning, and hope, tracing a widow's unlikely connection with a giant Pacific octopus) You will need to purchase this book.

 

December 18 -
We will discuss Remarkably Bright Creatures and will begin reading Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (a look into family relationships and what parenthood, either biological or by adoption, means...until Izzy burns her family home down) Ten copies will be provided.



Refund Policy

Full refunds will be given when CER cancels a class. If you cancel your registration BEFORE start date a refund for the class, less a $5 processing fee and any material costs incurred will be provided.  No refunds will be given on or after the class/event start date.

Refunds will be made only under the following conditions:


    1. If your class is filled to capacity before your registration is received.

    2. If your class is cancelled by CER.

    3. If you cancel your registration BEFORE start date, A refund for the class, less a $5 processing fee and any material costs incurred will be provided. No refunds will be given on or after the class/event start date. 




Registration Policy

Pre-registration with full payment is required, unless otherwise noted. Class sizes are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Most registration deadlines are one week before the start of class. Decisions on whether to hold the class are made on the registration deadline date, so please register early!  Registrations preferred online at www.fairmont.k12.mn.us/o/cer, in person at the CER office, 115 South Park Street, Suite 131, or by phone (507)235-3141.
