SRTS challenges your family to start a new tradition. Make the commitment to walk or bike the short trips, especially to school. Park and walk is an option for families living more than a mile away from school.
Studies show that children who walk and bicycle to school are more physically active, have lower body mass index scores, lower obesity levels and are more likely to meet physical activity guidelines. Studies also show that youth who exercise improve their achievements in the classroom.
Walk for Fitness and Fun. Can you give a half-hour one morning a week to promote safe walking for our youth? Adult Volunteers are needed to walk with youth on 4 different routes. Call CER 235-3141 with any questions. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Corner of Day Street & South Orient(7:45am), Fairmont Aquatic Park (7:30am), Bird Park (7:30am) & Grace Lutheran Church (7:30am). SRTS Safe Zone drop off at St. Paul's Lutheran School Playground (7:40am)
