Info

Southern Minnesota is still experiencing a severe shortage of skilled workers, Fairmont Area Schools is COMMITTED to provide a quality learning experience for students and adults as they prepare for a skilled job in welding.  We will host a 60 hour welding course to teach essential welding skills.

One high school credit will be earned for students in grades 9-12.  The class will be capped at 20 welding students.  Preference will be given to current high school students first.  There is an enrollment fee of $400 for all adults and students not attending FHS.  The fee includes the course, materials, equipment use, and a certificate of completion at the end if the student passes the welding tests.

You will develop skills in GMAW joint welding in the flat position, horizontal position, vertical position and some overhead positions.  You will also have the opportunity to perform groove weld joints and practice skills in SMAW.
